WELLBEING IN CONSTRUCTED SPACES
Health and Wellness are today key requirements in buildings and represent the second wave of sustainability. We spend about 90% of our time indoors, and our physical environment impacts our health more than lifestyle, medical care and genetics. For companies, investing in people and helping to improve their physical and mental health is common sense: 90% of corporate expenses are tied to salary and benefits, which means the ROI of healthier and happier employees extends to cost-savings, too.
The aim of the event in Italy is to present information about the International WELL Building InstituteTM (IWBITM) and its WELL Building StandardTM (WELLTM), and to start a proactive discussion among Italian and Mediterranean Stakeholders (Investors, Property Managers, Designers,…). To do this, a new not-for-profit company called APTA VITAE has been created to share the vision about the role of buildings and communities in health and wellness, and to promote the WELL Building Standard in RE markets, through education, networking, and community.

Health and Wellness are the second wave of sustainability
This convention aims to foster awareness of the importance of human health and wellbeing in buildings and communities. Designing, constructing and managing the sustainability of buildings, districts and cities is a key part of ensuring a brighter future for us all while increasing architectural value.
INTERNATIONAL WELL BUILDING INSTITUTE
In November 2016 global environmental business leader Rick Fedrizzi became chairman and CEO of the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), a public benefit corporation advancing buildings and communities that put human health and wellness at the center of their design and operation. Rick is also founding chair of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and former CEO of both USGBC and of Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), nonprofit organizations that promote high-performing buildings and communities. During his tenure, LEED became the world’s most widely used green building rating system.

WELL BUILDING STANDARD IN DEPTH
The time has come to elevate human health and comfort to the forefront of building practices and reinvent buildings that are not only better for the planet - but also for people. This one-day education session aims to introduce the WELL Building Standard by going in depth through the ideology, structure, certification process and existing case studies. The evidentiary basis for the concept categories is introduced along with design and construction strategies to create healthy buildings. This Education session gives the opportunity to understand how to manage a WELL Certification process, by understanding key concepts related to design, construction and operation of high-performing buildings, going through the features of the rating system. As part of this session the attendees will be involved in a practice workshop oriented to create a Workplace Wellness Program, to present at the end of the day. This Education session allows LEED APs and WELL APs to get 6 CE hours, as part of their CMP.
FOR THE FIRST 10 REGISTRATIONS TO THE EDUCATION SESSION,
THE FEE WILL INCLUDE THE REGISTRATION
TO THE WELL AP EXAM
